Voting is taking place in the national and provincial assemblies to elect the 14th President of Pakistan for the next five years. The voting began at 10 a.m. and will continue until 4 p.m. in the National Assembly, Senate, and all four provincial assemblies.
Asif Ali Zardari, co-chairman of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), and Mahmood Khan Achakzai, chairman of the Pashtoonkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP), are competing for the esteemed position.
Zardari Vs Achakzai: Voting For Presidential
The first vote in the presidential election was cast by Amer Talal, followed by Abdul Aleem Khan. Asif Ali Zardari, supported by the Pakistan People’s Party, PML-N, MQM-P, and other coalition parties, is contesting against Mahmood Khan Achakzai, the candidate of the Sunni Ittehad Council.
Sherry Rehman will serve as the polling agent for Asif Ali Zardari, while Senator Sardar Shafique will represent Mahmood Khan Achakzai. The Islamabad High Court Chief Justice Aamer Farooq is overseeing the election process.
Voters must bring their identity cards issued by the National and provincial assemblies and Senate Secretariat. They will mark their choice on the ballot paper using a special pencil.
Pakistan President’s election underway
Voting for the presidential position is happening simultaneously in the Senate, National Assembly, and four provincial assemblies, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., through a secret ballot.

A joint session of the parliament will take place at the parliament house in Islamabad, where members of the National Assembly and the Senate will cast their votes. Provincial assemblies will also hold sessions for the election.
According to constitutional provisions, the Chief Election Commissioner will serve as the Returning Officer for the presidential election.
