Sindh Govt Declares High Alert Ahead of Heavy Rain Prediction

Sindh Chief Secretary Syed Asif Haider Shah has put all municipalities, administrative bodies, and hospitals in the province on high alert due to expected heavy rainfall.

He directed all concerned authorities to be extra vigilant during the upcoming rainfall. Stressing the need for efficient drainage of rainwater from main roads and low-lying areas, Shah instructed organizations like Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KWSC), WASA, and Cantonments to be ready for any emergencies.

At the same time, the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) has set up a Rain Emergency Center, overseen by Director Demolition Abdul Sajjad Khan.

SBCA Director-General Abdul Rasheed Solangi announced that technical staff at the Rain Emergency Center will operate in three shifts around the clock to handle any urgent situations, with staff leave being canceled. Asadullah Khan, Chief Engineer of Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KWSC), reported that various sections of the city’s main roads are equipped with machinery, including suction machines and dewatering pumps deployed in flood-prone areas. The spokesperson assured uninterrupted drainage operations, stating that KWSC staff would remain on duty throughout the night to provide timely drainage services.
