Shaza Fatima Khawaja Appointed As The New IT Minister

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s new cabinet, comprising 19 members, was sworn in on Monday. They have been entrusted with the responsibility of governing Pakistan, a country with a population of 241 million, facing significant economic, political, and security challenges.

Pakistan, facing financial difficulties, recently dealt with the aftermath of the February 8 general election, which resulted in a hung National Assembly. This delayed the formation of a coalition government until Prime Minister Sharif assumed office last Monday.

Portfolios of federal ministers announced

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has appointed Shaza Fatima Khawaja as the federal minister for IT & Telecom. Shaza Fatima Khawaja Appointed As The New IT Minister A circular issued by the Prime Minister’s Office on March 12, 2024, stated, “The Prime Minister has been pleased to allocate the portfolio of Information Technology & Telecommunication to Ms. Shazia Fatima Khawaja, Minister of State, with immediate effect.”

Following this announcement, the Prime Minister recommended 19 individuals for his federal cabinet, comprising 12 National Assembly members and three senators, awaiting approval by President Asif Ali Zardari.

Khawaja has previously served as the Prime Minister’s aide on youth affairs and is the only woman among those recommended for the federal cabinet.
