Punjabi to be introduced as subject in schools: Maryam Nawaz. Punjab’s Chief Minister, Maryam Nawaz, has declared that Punjabi will now be taught in schools. She expressed her gratitude to the people of Punjab for trusting her with the role of Chief Minister, saying it brings her great respect as their sister and daughter. Maryam Nawaz also celebrated her election, seeing it as a significant moment for both Indian and Pakistani Punjab.

She emphasized the importance of preserving Punjabi culture to protect its heritage. Maryam Nawaz advocated for cultural celebrations at all school levels and stressed the need to foster pride in the Punjabi language.

Reflecting on Punjab’s diverse culture, Maryam Nawaz expressed concern over the diminishing pride in the Punjabi language. She urged parents to instill a sense of cultural identity in their children to prevent the language from fading away.

The Chief Minister called for a renewed focus on Punjabi cinema, highlighting its role in preserving cultural traditions. Provincial Minister for Information and Culture, Azma Bokhari, welcomed Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and praised her dedication to promoting Punjabi culture. The event showcased traditional attire and performances by artists, with prizes awarded to students for their cultural contributions.

Senior Provincial Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, along with other officials, attended the event, reaffirming their commitment to cultural development under Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s leadership.

Maryam Nawaz also explored a handicrafts exhibition at Al Hamra and sampled traditional Punjabi cuisine. She showed interest in Gandhara art samples from Taxila and observed various crafts made by local artisans.

During her visit, the Chief Minister observed the process of spinning yarn and even tried it herself. She also showed interest in Khadi clothing production and purchased traditional bangles. Additionally, Maryam Nawaz inaugurated a painting exhibition at Al Hamra Art Gallery, appreciating the artists’ work reflecting Punjab’s culture.

At another ceremony at Al Hamra Hall, special Sufi poetry was presented, accompanied by traditional Punjabi dances and folk songs, showcasing Punjab’s vibrant cultural heritage.
