Punjab Changes School Timings After Notifying Summer Vacations. Due to very hot weather expected in many parts of the country for the next 10 days, the Punjab government has changed the school hours from May 18 to May 31. Both public and private schools will have shorter days.
The Weather Department said yesterday that there will be very high pressure in the upper air. This will make it very hot in most parts of the country, especially in Punjab and Sindh from May 21. It will be extremely hot from May 23 to 27.
During May 21 to 23, the daytime will be about 4 to 6 degrees hotter than normal in Sindh and Punjab. From May 23 to 27, it will be even hotter, around 6 to 8 degrees above normal. People were told to stay away from being in the sun too much and to drink lots of water.
The Punjab government’s school education department issued a notice because of the very hot weather. From May 18 to May 31, all public and private schools in the province will open from 7 am to 11:30 am on Mondays to Thursdays and Saturdays. On Fridays, they will open from 7 am to 10 am.
The notice also said that school principals should do the following: make sure fans are working, ensure there are water coolers, and make sure students don’t sit outside in the sun or on the school lawn during the summer.
Chief executive officers and heads of institutions were told to make sure the instructions are followed completely and sincerely.

Another notice said that all public and private schools in the province will be closed from June 1 to August 14 for summer vacations. The new school year will start on August 15.
