Karachi Hits Record High Temperature in 2024. In spite of the recent rainfall observed in various regions of the nation, Karachi and other parts of Sindh are still experiencing rising temperatures.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) reports that Karachi encountered its highest temperature of the year this past Sunday.
The Meteorological Department disclosed that yesterday, Karachi experienced a temperature of 37 degrees Celsius. Additionally, Sunday marked one of the most humid days of the year, with humidity levels reaching 45 percent.
Under the relentless blaze of the sun, Karachi encountered its most scorching day of the year yet, with temperatures reaching 37 degrees Celsius in Shahr Quaid on Sunday.
The Meteorology Department noted that the city was engulfed in a searing and humid atmosphere, with minimal relief from sea breezes. The humidity level surged to 45%, amplifying the perception of heat beyond the recorded temperature.
Compared to Saturday’s high of 34.1 degrees, the temperature on Sunday rose by 2.9 degrees. Meanwhile, the PMD’s early warning system has raised concerns about a potential heatwave in Balochistan due to northern winds.
Meteorologists forecast that today’s temperatures will reach 39 degrees Celsius, with hot and dry weather expected across Sindh.
However, Chief Meteorologist Syed Sarfaraz clarified that there are currently no signs of a heatwave. Sarfaraz also noted that humidity levels in the air fluctuate between 10 to 20 percent.

Elsewhere in Sindh, there was a significant rise in the heat intensity. The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) reported that Chhor registered the highest temperature at 41 degrees Celsius, closely followed by Shaheed Benazirabad, Mithi, and Mohenjo Daro, all recording temperatures of 40 degrees Celsius.
