ICC Launches 2024 T20 World Cup Trophy Tour. The International Cricket Council (ICC) started the 2024 T20 World Cup Trophy Tour on Tuesday in New York. Chris Gayle, a two-time world champion, and Ali Khan represented the United States during the launch event.
The Trophy Tour kicked off at the Empire State Building, where Gayle and Ali posed with the trophy on top of the building.
A total of 55 matches will take place in the United States and the West Indies during the tournament. So far, over three million applications have been received through a public poll, resulting in additional tickets being issued for 51 of the matches.

The “Out of this World” trophy will journey to 15 different locations spread across four continents. Renowned cricketers will present the trophy in some of the world’s top stadiums during this tour.
In addition to visiting well-established cricketing nations, the trophy will also travel to emerging countries like Brazil, Argentina, Canada, and others. This initiative aims to foster connections and generate interest in the sport among people in these regions.
Here is the Trophy Tour Schedule for the first month:
- March 18-20: New York
- March 21-23: Houston, Grand Prairie, and Dallas
- March 26-27: Buenos Aires
- March 28-29: Sao Paulo
- April 3-4: Jamaica
- April 13-14: Barbados
- April 17-18: Antigua and Barbuda
- April 19-20: Saint Lucia
T20 World Cup 2024: Groups
Group A: India, Pakistan, Ireland, Canada, United States
Group B: England, Australia, Namibia, Scotland, Oman
Group C: New Zealand, West Indies, Afghanistan, Uganda, Papua New Guinea
Group D: South Africa, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Netherlands, NepalTwenty qualifying teams are divided into four groups of five for the initial phase of the tournament. From each group, the top two teams will advance to the Super 8 phase.
During the Super 8 stage, the qualifying teams will be divided into two groups of four. The top two teams from each group will move on to the semi-finals, and the winners of the semi-finals will compete in the final match.
West Indies first time T20 World Cup win since 2010
The upcoming T20 World Cup will mark the return of the tournament to the West Indies for the first time since 2010, when England emerged as the champions.

Additionally, this tournament holds historic significance as it will be the first time that the United States hosts a major event like the World Cup.
The defending champions are England, who clinched the title in the 2022 T20 World Cup held in Australia. They secured victory by defeating Pakistan in the final match.
