Last Friday, a judge issued an arrest warrant for Mahmood Khan Achakzai, who leads the Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party.
He didn’t show up for a court case about taking government land and allegedly disrupting government workers. Achakzai ran for president with the opposition parties.
The judicial magistrate issued an arrest warrant for Mr. Achakzai, instructing the police to bring him to court on April 27, which is today. This decision came after Mr. Achakzai didn’t attend court on April 22 for a case filed by the Gawalmandi police. The case involves allegations of criminal trespass, house-trespass, and common intention, as outlined in the Pakistan Penal Code.
During a raid on a plot near Mr. Achakzai’s home, conducted by local administration, Board of Revenue officials, and police, a security guard resisted their efforts. Officials asserted that the plot is government property, clarifying that the police did not raid Mr. Achakzai’s residence.
The PkMAP has claimed that the police raided the home of their party chief, who was a presidential candidate, without any valid reason and arrested his personal guard.

Abdul Rahim Ziaratwal, the Central Secretary General of PkMAP, stated that a large group of police officers raided the house without the presence of a magistrate, which violates people’s right to privacy. He alleged that this raid occurred after Achakzai had spoken out about election rigging in the general elections and his nomination as a presidential candidate by the opposition parties.
