State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) announced the SBP Art Competition On January 30,2024.This competition invites local designers, artists, and art students to submit their creative ideas for the design of new banknotes. The purpose of the Art Competition is to gather innovative and thematic concepts for the banknotes of the future. Participants have the opportunity to showcase their designs and compete for prizes. The competition will award prizes to the top three winning designs. Themes for the designs include identity, culture, demographic diversity, climate change, environmental protection, natural landscapes, economic development, architecture, heritage, and national symbols.

Entries for the competition will be accepted until March 11, 2024. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three designs for each of the seven current denominations. Submissions should be sent to the Director of the Finance Department at the State Bank of Pakistan in Karachi.

SBP Announces Art Competition for New Banknote Designs Top of Form
Participants have the opportunity to showcase their artistic talents and thematic concepts. Themes for the designs include identity, culture, demographic diversity, climate change, environmental protection, natural landscapes, economic development, architecture, heritage, and national symbols. The competition emphasizes the importance of periodic updates to banknote designs, typically done every 15 to 20 years to maintain technological advancements.

This initiative underscores SBP’s commitment to upholding the integrity of banknotes and engaging with the local artistic community to create visually compelling and meaningful designs for future currency.
SBP Term and Conditions
- The jury will pick the top six for each and then SBP will select the top 3.
- Submitted designs are SBP’s property, shareable, or modifiable without extra compensation.
- Submit designs for seven denominations or fewer (Rs. 10, 20, 50, 100, 500, 1000, and 5000).
- Ineligible: Jury members, SBP employees, and family.
- Hard copy of new designs on white paper with a brief (up to 100 words) explanation in English or Urdu.
Each denomination must have unique colors. - Designs have to be free of copyright.
- 3rd winner Prize: Rs.300,000/-
- 2nd winner Prize: Rs.500,000/-
- 1st winner Prize: Rs.1,000,000/-
