The Sindh government, led by the PPP, has formally declared a four-day holiday for Eid-ul-Fitr, as per a notification issued by the administration. The holiday period will commence on Wednesday, April 10, and conclude on Saturday, April 13.
This announcement arrives amid the anticipation surrounding the sighting of the Shawwal moon, signaling the end of the Islamic month of Ramadan. The Meteorological Department has indicated the possibility of moon sighting on April 9, a day preceding the holiday commencement.
The Meteorological Department has elaborated on the lunar cycle, indicating that the new moon is anticipated to emerge on April 8 at 11:21 PM, with potential visibility on April 9. Consistent with the provincial directive, the federal government has likewise announced public holidays for Eid-ul-Fitr, covering the period from April 10 to 13.
With rising temperatures, especially in Karachi, the port city, the Meteorological Department has cautioned residents to limit outdoor activities during the daytime. Karachi is forecasted to face hot and humid weather, while other districts in Sindh are anticipated to encounter intense heat until April 10th.
