Punjab Allocates Rs. 1.6 Billion for Free Books. The Punjab government has set aside Rs. 1.6 billion to supply free books to students in schools throughout the province.
As per a report, the Finance Department has disbursed the budget to the Schools Education Department for the distribution of free books to students in Punjab schools.

Meanwhile, the department has instructed school administrators to download a tree plantation application for the ongoing initiative that covers schools across Punjab, including Lahore.
Schools are required to upload photos of their tree plantation activities onto the designated application. Additionally, information about the types of trees already planted in schools and their growth progress will be documented in the application.
In the meantime, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has encouraged the public to participate in the Plant for Pakistan campaign on the International Day of Forests.

She added that free saplings are being distributed during the campaign and encouraged students to take the lead. According to the CM, for the first time, the plantation record will be maintained using QR code and GIS technology.
