The Federal Cabinet has given the green light to several agreements to boost cooperation with Iran, focusing on creating a Worker’s Welfare Fund and collaborating in the film industry, according to high-level sources quoted by Pakistanalerts.
Sources indicate that the Federal Cabinet has approved different proposals for distribution. Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi will sign these agreements during his trip to Pakistan this week.
One of the agreements aims to foster workforce collaboration and facilitate the exchange of skilled workers between Iran and Pakistan. According to sources, the two countries will work together to improve worker welfare, which includes establishing a Workers Welfare Fund.
The Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) were signed at the end of a two-day meeting of the joint border trade committee on Sunday night. This meeting focused on several topics, including how to put into practice the agreements signed between Pakistan and Iran in 2010 and 2006. These agreements aimed to increase trade and improve facilities for importing and exporting goods at the Pak-Iran borders.
Both sides agreed that the Zahidan Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines, and Agriculture, along with the Quetta Chamber of Commerce and Industry, would work together to make investments to improve infrastructure in key areas such as customs, trade, transportation, and airlines.
Both nations will send delegations across the border to learn about various sectors in each country. Regarding the film industry and cinematic cooperation, sources said that the agreement would include joint film production and the exchange of delegations to better understand each other’s film industries.
Sources also mentioned that these agreements would include organizing cultural events like Film Weeks in both countries.

The foreign office stated that Pakistan and Iran will discuss a variety of topics to further deepen their ties and increase cooperation in different areas such as trade, connectivity, energy, agriculture, and direct contact between people.
The discussions will also address regional and global issues, along with cooperation to fight against “terrorism,” the statement mentioned.
Pakistan and Iran share a strong relationship rooted in history, culture, and religion,” the foreign office said. “This visit is a significant chance to further strengthen Pakistan-Iran relations.
