The credit goes to the Pakistan Cricket Board’s management and Shaheen Shah Afridi, as they trusted me and brought me back to the team. There’s some pressure to live up to that trust,” said left-arm fast bowler Mohammad Amir.

I’m returning after almost four years, and playing for your country feels special. Honestly, it feels like I’m debuting again,” he added.

At 32, Amir was a key player in the 2009 T20 World Cup and the 2017 Champions Trophy, where Pakistan emerged victorious. With the 2024 ICC T20 World Cup just two months away, Amir looks ready to make his mark again.

I joined the team in 2009, and Pakistan became world champions. Then, we played in the 2017 Champions Trophy final, and we won. The PCB management brought me back with a short-term goal: to focus on the World Cup,” said Mohammad Amir.

Amir believes he’s in better shape now than he was in 2019. Thanks to playing league cricket around the world in recent years, he feels fitter and ready to contribute to the team.

think I’m in much better shape than I was in 2019 because I feel fitter than ever before. If you’re not fit, you can’t perform on the field, no matter how skilled you are. With my current fitness level, I believe I can make a big difference for the team,” said 32-year-old Mohammad Amir.

The biggest source of positive energy for me is my family—my wife and my children. I love spending time with my daughters, and it’s a big motivator for me. My wife ensures that I can fully concentrate on cricket, and that’s what gives me the energy to face everything,” he added.
