Islamabad schools to remain closed from Feb 3-11

Following the closure of educational institutions in Punjab and Sindh, the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training announced on Thursday that schools will be closed from February 6 to 9 due to the upcoming general elections in the country. The ministry stated, “In view of the upcoming general elections 2024 to be held in Pakistan on February 8, 2024, it has been decided to declare public holidays from February 6 to 9.”

The interim federal government of Pakistan has announced a nine-day holiday for all schools, colleges, and higher educational institutions in Islamabad to facilitate the electoral process and ensure the safety of students during the upcoming general elections in 2024. The educational institutions in the federal capital will reopen on February 10 (Saturday).

Schools Holidays in Islamabad

Both public and private schools will remain closed from February 3 to 11. This closure accounts for the schools’ usual two weekly holidays, Saturday and Sunday, with February 3 falling on a Saturday. A notification issued by the capital administration highlights the need to create a conducive environment for the electoral process and recognizes the importance of allowing sufficient time for students, teachers, and staff to engage in the democratic exercise.

Additionally, it was stated that educational institutions in the federal capital would reopen on February 10 (Saturday). However, both public and private schools would remain closed from February 3 to 11. This closure includes the regular weekend holidays of Saturday and Sunday, so schools would remain shut on Saturday, February 3.

Furthermore, the federal government has designated February 5 (Monday) as a public holiday in observance of “Kashmir Solidarity Day.” Educational facilities will be closed from February 6 to 9 in light of the general elections. After the nine-day break, schools are scheduled to reopen on February 12 (Monday).
