The other members are Shakeel Ahmed Manganijo, Amjad Mehmood, and Hasan Ali Mangi. Their main job is to look at the report and find out why too much wheat was brought into the country. They also need to find out who is responsible for allowing the import of wheat after February 2024.

According to sources, the first report stated that federal institutions are to blame for bringing in too much wheat. Even though Punjab already had 40.47 lakh metric tons of wheat in reserve, an extra 35.87 lakh metric tons were brought in, causing a fake shortage.

The report suspects that officials from the Punjab Food Department and Pasco were involved in this issue.

The investigation discovered that wheat was bought at a cost of Rs 2600-2900 per maund but sold at a higher price of Rs 4700 per maund. The permit allowed for importing 1 million metric tons, but this limit was surpassed, as per sources.

The committee has been told to give its detailed report to the Prime Minister in four days. The Ministry of Food Security will help the committee with its work, according to sources.
