Two patients lost their lives, and 12 others suffered severe injuries when the roof of the surgical ward at Aziz Bhatti Shaheed Hospital in Gujrat collapsed on Wednesday, according to a report by Pakistanalerts.

The deceased were identified as 45-year-old Azmat Bibi and a child. When the roof caved in, several patients were trapped under the debris. Emergency responders quickly pulled them out and moved them to a safer area on the hospital grounds for further treatment.

Rescue teams rushed to the scene to begin the challenging task of extracting survivors from the debris, but their work was slowed by the unstable condition of the collapsed structure.
