The Punjab government said schools will start and finish earlier during the hot summer to keep kids safe.
The new timings are 7:45 am to 1:15 pm on normal days, ending at 11:45 am on Fridays, as per a notice from the education department.
Double-shift schools will have two sessions, running from 7:45 am to 12:15 pm and from 12:45 pm to 5:15 pm.
It’s important to mention that the authorities in the province regularly adjust school timings for the safety and convenience of students, taking into account weather conditions and security concerns.
Previously, they changed timings for the winter season, from February to April 15, because of extremely cold weather. During this time, regular classes in boys’ schools in the provincial capital and other cities started from 8:30 am to 2:30 pm, while classes in girls’ schools were from 8:15 am to 2:15 pm.

In Punjab and other areas, school timings used to change depending on the weather and safety concerns for students. Previously, the timings were adjusted for the winter season, and these changes were in place until April 15.
On Fridays, boys’ schools closed at 12:15 pm, and girls’ schools closed at 12:00 pm. Additionally, double-shift schools held classes continuously from 7:45 am to 12:15 pm and from 12:30 pm to 5:00 pm in the second shift without any breaks.
