Govt Drops Petrol Bomb Ahead of Eid. The federal government, recently elected, announced a significant increase in the price of petrol by Rs. 9.66 per litre for the upcoming two weeks, coinciding with the approaching Eid ul Fitr.
As per a notification issued by the Finance Division, the new price of petrol stands at Rs. 289.41 per litre, up from the previous rate of Rs. 279.75.
In contrast, the price of high-speed diesel (HSD) has seen a reduction of Rs. 3.32, now priced at Rs. 285.56 per litre.
The Ministry of Finance explained that while the international market witnessed a surge in the price of petrol (Motor Gasoline) over the last two weeks, the cost of HSD slightly decreased during the same period.

The recent adjustments in fuel prices reflect the government’s commitment to align domestic prices with fluctuations in the international market, as stated in the official announcement.

Following a similar pattern observed in mid-March 2024, the consumer price of high-speed diesel (HSD) has been reduced once more. This decision comes after a downward revision earlier in March.
