Attention all prospective drivers in Punjab! Exciting changes are coming to make getting your driver’s license easier and more convenient. The Punjab government has announced a new driver’s license program that will take effect immediately across the province.
Significant changes have been made to the Motor Vehicles Rules 1969, particularly in the driving test process. According to a recent tweet from the Lahore traffic police, there’s a major change: the e-sign exam, an important part of the driving test, will now be conducted two weeks later.

It’s important to note that passing the on-road exam is still required. Failing it means waiting 42 days before retaking both tests. During the on-road test, you’ll demonstrate your driving skills on a specified route. If you don’t pass, take a breather and wait for 42 days. Meanwhile, the e-sign test assesses your theoretical knowledge over two weeks. Pass both exams, and the driver’s license is yours!
This change in the Motor Vehicle Rules is a positive step toward making the licensing process easier for aspiring drivers in Punjab. It reflects a commitment to promoting road safety and ensuring that licensed drivers are competent and responsible.
The goal of the new system is to streamline and simplify the driver’s license application process. Licenses can now be renewed according to the updated fee schedule.
